About Al Race: I recently retired after 15 years with the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University. Throughout my career, I have been an editor, writer, and communications strategy developer. I have focused on the science of early childhood development and its implications for policy and practice, media literacy and effective use of educational media with children, and a wide range of recreation and entertainment topics. I have traveled to a dozen or so countries so far, always in small doses for work or in 1-3 week vacations, and want to see more! I have written unpublished songs, short stories, poems, and a novel, just for fun. This is my first blog.

About Rachel Zerner: I am a retired educator, having spent the better part of 20 years working with children with special needs. I loved my time in the upper elementary grades but made the move to middle school for the final three years of my career and thought those kids were awesome! Other hats I have worn are professional baker, jewelry maker, retail manager and waitress. I have traveled extensively in Europe and through various parts of Asia and the Middle East. I am happiest when I am exploring a new place and meeting people.
